COVID-19 Outbreak declared on Medical Unit

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared on CGMH's Medical Unit in collaboration with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU).

Multiple COVID+ patients have been identified, however, impacted patients have been isolated and cohorted, and the Unit remains open for admissions.

Visitor restrictions are now in place for the Medical Unit, except in the case of palliative end of life patients and essential caregivers, which have been approved by the Department manager or Hospital Coordinator.

The hospital's emergency department and outpatient clinics continue to operate and are not impacted by the outbreak.

Diligent mask wearing while in the hospital is essential for approved visitors/essential caregivers. Hospital issued masks must cover the visitors mouth and nose, and must remain on for the entire visit. Eating or drinking is not permitted while visiting, including on Units that are not currently on outbreak. We thank all visitors for their understanding and cooperation. You can read more on the hospital's Pandemic Visitor policy at: https://cgmh.on.ca/patients-visitors/visitors
