CGMH announces new president and CEO

The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Lacroix as the new President and CEO, effective immediately.

Michael is a highly experienced, solutions-oriented hospital executive and has been serving as Vice President Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer at CGMH for the past ten years. The appointment of Mr. Lacroix was made after an extensive and rigorous executive search.

"We could not be happier that Michael, our current Vice President Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer, will be our next President and CEO," says Barry Goodwin, CGMH Board Chair. "His commitment to our patients and communities and his innovative and people focused approach to leadership align with our hospital’s values and our strategic plan. Since Michael joined CGMH in 2011, the Board has witnessed his dedication to our hospital and our communities, and the positive impact he's had leading some of the largest initiatives in our organization’s history."

With nearly 20 years of progressive leadership experience, Michael is a high-performing hospital leader with an unwavering focus on the patient experience and the health and wellness of our CGMH team. Michael balances strategic decision-making with financial discipline, and is deeply committed to developing and strengthening partnerships and collaboration at the local, regional, and provincial levels.

In his current role, Michael was instrumental in turning around the hospital's financial position during a time of significant funding change and restraint. CGMH continues to be one of the most efficient hospitals in Ontario. Under Michael's leadership, CGMH completed its largest clinical transformation project with the successful implementation of the hospital’s new health information system in September 2021. Michael has also led CGMH’s Hospital Development efforts, including the successful Stage 1 capital planning submission in 2019, resulting in a $15M planning grant from the Ministry of Health and approval to move to Stage 2 planning.

"I am honoured and excited to be moving into this new role and furthering CGMH’s journey alongside our dedicated team of employees, physicians, midwives, and volunteers," says Michael Lacroix. "I'm inspired by our patients and our dedicated team members, and I’m motivated to make a positive difference for our CGMH team and for the communities we serve. Our South Georgian Bay community is a special place with an exciting future ahead when it comes to health care service delivery. I’m looking forward to further advancing the mission of the organization in collaboration with our CGMH team and local partners."

Michael is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Master of Health Science degree from the University of Toronto, and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Brock University. Michael is LEAN Green Belt certified and holds a Certified Health Executive designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
