CGMH welcomes new Board Chair

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is pleased to announce Mr. Barry Goodwin as the new chair of the CGMH Board of Directors following his recent appointment at the hospital’s Annual General Meeting on June 16.

Mr. Goodwin joined the Board in 2020 and has served as a member of Governance and the Hospital Development committees, as well as chair of the Nominating Committee.

“I feel honoured to serve as Board Chair at this critically important time for CGMH and the entire South Georgian Bay community,” says Mr. Goodwin, who moved to the Collingwood area with his husband in 2019 to enjoy early retirement.

Prior to this transition, Mr. Goodwin was a professor at the University of Toronto's Munk School Global Affairs and Public Policy, teaching in the Master of Public Policy program. Mr. Goodwin also had a long career as a senior executive with the Ontario and federal governments. He oversaw large government agencies such as the LCBO and the OLG, as well as many regulatory agencies involved with public safety and consumer protection. Additionally, his professional background includes the development of significant amounts of legislation and work in economic development, trade, labour market policy and infrastructure development.

Mr. Goodwin has extensive board experience on multiple levels including as a board member, overseeing boards on behalf of the government and as a senior executive reporting to a board.

“CGMH welcomes Mr. Goodwin to this new leadership role where his comprehensive knowledge of Board Governance and his extensive leadership experience will prove invaluable during this pivotal time of change,” says Mike Lacroix, CGMH Interim President and CEO.
