CGMH Moves to Phase 3 of the Hospital's Designated Visitor Policy

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is moving to Phase 3 (from Phase 2a) of the hospital's Designated Visitor Policy effective today, Wednesday May 25.

Phase 3 of the designated visitor policy allows higher on-site access to essential care partners. At this time, all essential care partners must continue to show proof of vaccination and photo identification to enter the hospital, in addition to wearing a medical grade mask for the duration of the hospital visit.

Under Phase 3, the following patient populations will be permitted two essential care partners concurrently daily:

  • End of life including MAID and stillbirth
  • Childbirth
  • Major surgery
  • Critical illness/life altering diagnosis
  • Significant developmental, intellectual disability/cognitive impairment/unable to effectively communicate
  • Patients requiring caregiver to support hospital workflow
  • Long stay patients
  • Patients under 18 years of age
  • Emergency department patients that meet one of the above criteria only

Please note if two essential care partners are allowed and one is vaccinated and the other is not, no exemption will be given to the non-vaccinated individual. The fully vaccinated essential care partner may proceed to a visit.
