COVID-19 outbreak confirmed on CGMH's Medical Unit

In collaboration with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared on Collingwood General & Marine Hospital's (CGMH) Medical Unit.

Four patients on the Medical Unit have tested positive for COVID-19.

Impacted patients have been isolated, enhanced cleaning measures have been implemented, contact tracing is underway by the hospital's Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health teams, as well as the swabbing of all patients on the Medical Unit.

At this time admissions to the Medical unit are being restricted and the Unit will be closed to all visitation except in the case of palliative end of life patients, where passing is imminent.

"CGMH thanks all employees and credentialed staff for their dedication and continued efforts during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all while they continue to provide outstanding care to CGMH patients and the South Georgian Bay community," says Norah Holder, CGMH President and CEO.
