RVH cautiously easing visitor restrictions

As the province continues to lift many COVID-19 restrictions, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is carefully and cautiously easing of some of its visitor restrictions.

Effective Monday, April 4, 2022 admitted patients are allowed one visitor per day, seven days a week for one hour. Patients will designate two visitors. All visits must be booked by directly contacting the patient care unit no later than 6 a.m. of the day of the visit, and all visitors must still show identification and proof of double-vaccination or a valid exemption.

For those having procedures in the Operating Room, Endoscopy Suites, Interventional Radiology or in the Cardiac Intervention Unit, one visitor is permitted to accompany them only if support is required. In the Emergency department, one visitor is permitted when patient is in a designated room – visitors not permitted in waiting room areas.

Visiting hours are 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Child and Youth Mental Health hours are 4 – 8 p.m.

Please visit our website at www.rvh.on.ca for complete details.

“Safety is our promise to our patients, our community, our staff and our physicians. To ensure that promise is kept, we must be careful relaxing our visitor policy,” says Janice Skot, president and CEO. “Although the situation seems steady for the moment, we are watching case numbers and hospitalizations closely. We all wish for a return to normalcy, but COVID’s ever-changing nature has shown there are no certainties and we must proceed with the utmost caution.”
