Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is 301-bed internationally recognized psychiatric hospital located on the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay in the Town of Penetanguishene. The Bayview Program for Dual Diagnosis is a patient-centred tertiary level care program providing a suite of services to individuals with a developmental disability and mental health needs. The program combines the expertise of a full inter-professional team to offer the patient and their caregiver’s specialized services. Supporting the use of evidence based practice is valued and as such the program has been awarded two best practices by Accreditation Canada.

Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is currently seeking a full-time Psychologist for the Bayview Program for Dual Diagnosis. The purpose of this position is to plan, conduct and supervise psychological services in a psychiatric hospital, and to plan, co-ordinate and provide related research and program evaluation projects, and educational and training services.

Key Accountabilities:

• Perform clinical duties including: screening, planning, and conducting and/or supervising clinical assessment and treatment of patients; keeping clinical records according to hospital policy and standards of professional practice
• Administer, evaluate, and interpret a range of psychological tests; prepare psychological reports and attend/provide evidence at court proceedings as required
• Design, deliver, supervise and evaluate assessments, treatments, evidence-based therapies and rehabilitative interventions
• Provide consultation and advice to members of the inter-professional team on developing and evaluating treatment effectiveness and therapeutic activities
• Organize and conduct research and program evaluation projects
• Professional supervision to Psychometrists, temporary registrants with Ontario College of Psychologists, and placement/research students

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Doctoral training in clinical psychology
• Registration in good standing (or eligibility for registration) as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
• Preference for additional certification and/or experience with CBT/DBT therapies
• Experience completing psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment in patients with severe and persistent mental illness and co-morbid psychological/psychiatric conditions preferred
• Experience conducting and interpreting a large range of psychological testing related to the dually diagnosed population
• Experience conducting full range of psychotherapeutic and assessment techniques to plan, conduct, and coordinate psychological services as per College standards
• Ability to provide diagnostic assessments, implement treatment, rehabilitation and behavioural modification programs, as well as consultation experience for diagnosis treatment of patients/clients.
• Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
• Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt readily to change
• Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
• Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills


Salary:  $53.81 to $68.27 per hour
